Why Choose Oil Heat?
Delivering B20 Bioheat® Plus Ultra-Low Sulfur Heating Oil
Densmore provides Bioheat® Plus ultra-low sulfur heating oil (ULSHO) with a maximum 15ppm sulfur content. Densmore Oil is proud to offer ULSHO and Bioheat® Plus fuel to our customers. Its many eco-friendly and money-saving benefits include:
- Cleaner, greener fuel use at your property.
- Lower carbon emissions.
- Lower sulfur content reduces sooting and scaling, which prolongs heating system lifespan, and causes no problems for oil heating equipment or oil tanks.
- Reduced sooting and scaling also helps increase heating system efficiency, helping you save more annually on fuel usage.
- ULSHO produces fewer emissions. Compared to heating oil with higher sulfur content, ULSHO reduces sulfur dioxide by 75%, particulate matter by 80%, nitrous oxide by 10%, and carbon dioxide by 2%. Because we blend ULSHO with biodiesel, you can add an additional 5-10% to these numbers!
When ULSHO is blended with a minimum of 2% biodiesel (creating Bioheat® fuel), it has a lower greenhouse gas emission than natural gas. But Densmore goes above and beyond by blending 20% biodiesel into our ULSHO, creating B20 Bioheat® fuel for your use.
Get the Facts: Fuel Oil vs. Natural Gas
As energy options continue to diversify, particularly for Southern Connecticut and Southwestern Rhode Island residents, we’d like to remind our oil customers why we still highly recommend fuel oil for your home heating needs:
Home Safety: Heating oil is non-explosive, so you can rest easy each winter knowing that you are heating your home with a safe, reliable, and efficient fuel provided by a local company you can trust. Additionally, we at Densmore provide annual heating system tune-ups to ensure your equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
Environmental Advances: The heating oil industry has cut its total greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 33% over the last four decades. Conversely, natural gas leaks in the U.S. produce 28 million tons of methane – a greenhouse gas about 30 times more potent than carbon dioxide – each year.
Financial Savings: Converting to natural gas can cost more than $10,000 in parts and labor, while upgrading your current boiler or furnace can save you up to 30% on your annual fuel bills. You can save an additional 10% each heating season simply by having annual maintenance performed.
Overall Value: As an oil customer, you can choose which local company delivers your fuel and services your equipment. Unlike major utilities, Densmore is available to assist you at any time and in any weather.
